Northern-California Bike Touring Adventure – Hwy 89 – Dunsmuir/Mt Shasta, Mt Lassen
Recently completed a three-day cycling expedition through Northern California, traversing scenic routes and natural landmarks across the region.
Day 1 — Dunsmuir / Mt. Shasta to Burney Falls The journey commenced in Dunsmuir, pedaling through lush forests and winding roads toward Mt. Shasta. The route progressed from McCloud to Burney Falls, featuring crystal-clear rivers and visits to the waterfall site.
Day 2 — Burney to Lassen Park Exploration The second day included exploration of Subway Cave — a lava tube that was formed during volcanic events just twenty thousand years ago. The trailhead sits less than half a mile from Highway 89 and Highway 44 junction in Old Station. Then visited Lassen Volcanic National Park to observe geothermal features and volcanic landscapes.
Day 3 — Final Stretch The concluding segment ran from Mineral to Red Bluff, transitioning from mountainous terrain to the fertile valleys of Northern California.
